I have come to the conclusion (finally) that I have to work. In order for us to own a house, drive decent cars, eat, etc. I need to be bringing in a paycheck. So, if I have to get up Monday through Friday and go to work, why shouldn't it be a FUN job. I want to plan parties or take pictures for a living. I mean parties are FUN and I have FUN when I am taking pictures. It would also be FUN to be Minnie Mouse in Disney World or be the ballgirl at a New York Yankees game. Those are the types of job that I would not mind waking up at 6 am for. The problem is reality sets in. I have no party planning experience (except for my own wedding), I have not taken a photography course, I do not live in Orlando and the NY Yankees only have ballboys well younger than me. So tomorrow morning when the alarm goes off, I will get up and get ready for my not so FUN job. Maybe on my lunch hour I'll sign myself up for a photography class...

How to Be a Good Mom
As all mothers know there is not a book with the title 'How to be a Good Mom'. Although it would make things easier each child and parent are different so no one book could teach anyone such a hard, yet rewarding lesson. I feel in my first 21+ months as David's mother that I fall into the 'good mother' category. I am far from perfect, but trying everyday. I was home with David for 3 months after he was born. When he was 4 months old I worked from home so my Mom helped out. Then I returned to work in the office full time and I have been there ever since. My parents take care of David while I am at work. They have done a fantastic job. I could not ask for better and David LOVES being with them. I know that I am truly blessed to have them. But recently my 'good mom' instincts kicked in and I have started to look into daycare for David. I know that some people would think that looking into daycare would fall under 'bad mom' but as David's mom, I know that is what he needs and wants. He is very social and smart. He loves to be with other children and he loves to learn new things. So I am signing David up for 2 days a week of daycare at the end of June. He will be 2 years old by then. I think my parents need the break and David needs the socialization. I do NOT look forward to that first morning when I have to drop him off at daycare, but I will just remember that I am being a 'Good Mother'.
P.S. Wish me luck - TEARS!

It doesn't FEEL like Easter
Not only was yesterday Easter, it was my husband Steve and my 6th wedding Anniversary. Although, it did not feel like either to me. It was too cold to be Easter and because it was Easter, we did not celebrate our Anniversary. I seem to remember Easter being a sunny and warm Sunday when I was a kid. I have even seen pictures of me and my sister in pastel dresses without coats outside having fun. Where have those days gone?
All that said, we did have a good Easter. David was a good boy and received some good stuff from the Easter Bunny as well as his relatives. We had a delicious brunch at my parents new place with my Dad's side of the family and then I cooked a turkey dinner for my husband's side of the family. David got to play with his cousins, Steve got to hang out with his brother in law and cousin and I got to chit-chat with the girls! A good time was had by all.

Shopping used to be so much fun...
Now it is a JOB! For two reasons:
1. I now shop for specific items.
2. 1 year old boys do not like to shop.
Let's talk about #1. Prior to owning a house I used to shop for me. Clothes, shoes, make-up, cd's, etc. It was fun. Now, I shop for specific things for our house. It could be fun, however it seems everything I like is too expensive or out of stock. That is not fun.
Now #2. When shopping with David the only words coming out of mouth are "Sit down", "No David" & "Don't touch that". I used to say things like "this is cute" or "what a great deal". I do get to browse while shopping with David either. It is 'a get in and out as fast as you can' type of shopping now. That is not fun.
Maybe I should only shop online at Deals R Us!

How my tastes have changed
For those of you that do not know, we just finished making our den bigger. What was once two bedrooms on our first floor is now a nice size den. I decided that we would paint it yellow to compliment our denim sectional. It really looks beautiful. Now for the confession...
If you asked me 9 years ago if I would have a denim sectional in a yellow room, I would have said "Heck No!". My taste back then was black leather furniture and laquer tables in a purple room - YIKES!
I am thinking that everyone has benefited from my change of taste!
